Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli conquers the Prada Cup and shows highly competitive spirit in the America’s Cup

After 10 incredible and hard-fought regattas the 36th America’s Cup presented by PRADA came to an end with a 7-3 score in favour of the defender, Emirates Team New Zealand. For the Italian team led by Max Sirena and supported by Panerai, the Auckland adventure was nevertheless a success, crowned by a historic triumph over Ineos in the PRADA Cup.

For only the third time in history, after the legendary Moro di Venezia in 1992 and the first Luna Rossa in 2000, an Italian team has competed in the America’s Cup Match.

Making history? It’s what we do. That’s why Panerai has partnered with Luna Rossa to create a line of unstoppable water-resistant watches for the world’s most elite crew, the Luna Rossa Sailing Team

This remarkable achievement is first and foremost the fruit of hard work and a flawless strategy. While other challengers pursued maximum speed, Luna Rossa focused constantly on improving transitions, manoeuvrability, and aggressiveness from the very first regatta of the America’s Cup World Series, back in December 2020, to the final duel with Emirates Team New Zealand three months later.

As much as passion and intensive training have been essential to achieve this historic result, the goal could not have been reached without the support of a massive technological foundation rooted in the creative and engineering skills that are inseparable from a perception of Italian identity recognized around the world.

Panerai & Luna Rossa:
sharing the same passion for excellence

Serving as the Official Timekeeper at the queen of regattas in support of an Italian team has been an honour and a privilege for Panerai. Working with Max Sirena and the entire Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team has allowed Panerai to create a collection of advanced watches, inspired by the technologies and materials used in the America’s Cup, such as Carbotech™, based on carbon fibre, and known for being used to build Luna Rossa’s AC75 monohull.

For Max Sirena and the Luna Rossa Sailing Team, precision is everything. That’s why Panerai created a fleet of watches inspired by this crew of exceptional athletes

This collaboration is not only based on the applications of high-performance timepieces, but it is rooted in technical innovation, Italian excellence, and love of the sea and adventure, values with which Panerai is associated and that are also shared by Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.
