Rolex Cellini Moonphase Reference 50535

The Rolex Cellini Moonphase combines craftsmanship, innovation and even extraterrestrial materials in a strikingly beautiful dress watch. It embodies the eternal elegance of traditional timepieces with an exclusive lunar cycle display.

The Moonphase correction tool with Rolex inscription is used to conveniently adjust the moonphase display

The Cellini Moonphase displays the hour, minute and seconds, as well as the date of the month via a total of four hands, all mounted in the centre of the white lacquer dial.

The date, traditionally shown at the 3 o’clock position and magnified under a Cyclops lens on Rolex watches, is now indicated by an elegantly thin, blued hand that stretches all the way to the periphery of the dial.

It is here that the crescent-moon tip of the hand embraces the Arabic numerals arranged around the periphery of the dial, hence allowing for the convenient reading of the current date.

Beautifully crafted from 18ct Everose gold, its 39mm diameter case bestows the Cellini Moonphase with the timeless proportions essential for such a noble timepiece

Flanked by sets of two hand-applied 18ct Everose gold hour markers is a 60-minute track that serves for easy reading of the minutes, while the hour hand points to the 18ct Everose markers applied closest to the centre of the dial. At the 12 o’clock position the Rolex crown takes a prominent position, followed by the name in a modest, restrained typography.

The white lacquer dial serves as a high-contrast backdrop to all these indications, embellished by two gold rings and a gold triangle, framing its expansive cut-out at the 6 o’clock position. Here, the Cellini Moonphase features an exclusive display of the phases of the moon.

A blue enamelled disc shows the full moon and the new moon, the former depicted by a meteorite applique and the latter by a silver ring.

The moonphase is read against the triangular indicator set at 12 o’clock on the subdial, as the full moon and new moon rotate through the lunar cycle.

A defining feature of the Cellini Moonphase: a delicately enamelled disc in blue shows the full moon and the new moon, the former depicted by a meteorite applique and the latter by a silver ring

Driven by a self-winding mechanical movement entirely manufactured by Rolex, the Cellini Moonphase boasts a patented moonphase module that is astronomically accurate for 122 years, meaning it will be more than a century before the moonphase indication requires manual adjustment. Likewise, the Manufacture Rolex calibre 3195 is engineered, crafted and tested for an unrivaled accuracy rating within -2 and +2 seconds per day after casing, greatly exceeding the requirements of the independent COSC chronometer testing institute – whose tests each individual calibre has also passed with flying colours.

A touch of distinction comes in the form of the domed and fluted bezel.

Exclusive to the Cellini collection, this beautifully crafted 18ct Everose gold frame combines two Rolex design icons: the domed bezel and the fluted bezel in one harmonious shape.

A dial exquisitely rendered in white lacquer provides the perfect backdrop for the 18ct Everose gold and blued dial elements, as well as the discreet but clearly legible printing in black

The outer edge reveals hundreds of precision-formed, highly polished facets, topped by a thin, yet generously domed ring that leads the eye towards the white lacquer dial inside.

On the wrist, the Cellini Moonphase exudes elegance and nobility, radiating from its beautifully proportionate, yet highly functional design

Crafted from 18ct Everose gold, the 39mm diameter case bestows the Cellini Moonphase with the timeless proportions essential for such a noble timepiece destined to stand high above passing trends. The flared winding crown is also crafted from this precious, Rolex-developed gold alloy, sized perfectly for ease of use and engineered with screw-down security for optimum water resistance. Matched to a brown alligator leather strap and fastened comfortably around the wrist by the concealed folding Crownclasp – also in solid 18ct Everose gold – the Cellini Moonphase radiates with refined elegance.
