Because they are formed deep within the earth, under extreme heat and pressure; virtually all diamonds contain the so-called "birthmarks", small imperfections inside the diamond (called inclusions), or on its surface (called blemishes).
No two diamonds have exactly the same clarity characteristics in exactly the same locations. This fact helps gemologists identify individual diamonds.
Valuating diamond clarity involves determining the number, size, relief, nature, and position of these characteristics, as well as how these affect the overall appearance of the stone. The very purity of diamonds is determined by the scale of FL (Flawless) to I3 (Imperfect).While no diamond is perfectly pure, the closer it comes, the higher its value. It is important to underline that miniature inclusion do not endanger either quality or beauty. That is also the proof of real diamonds. As a standard for measurability the magnifying glass with an increase of ten times is commonly used.
As clarity increases, and if all other value factors are equal, diamond price per carat also increases.
