Tudor Black Bay Bronze - The Bronze Age

9 minutes read

Over the past few years, bronze cases have become one of those privileged trends in the Swiss watchmaking, especially in the arena of luxurious diving watches. Among them, one name certainly came out on top – Black Bay Bronze. Its fusion design of warm tones and contemporary size provides a marvellous alternative to the aesthetic of steel.

With charming 43 mm case and COSC certified mechanism, desirable Bronze is definitely one of the most interesting watches in Tudor portfolio.

A high-performance and aluminium bronze guarantees the development of a subtle and unique patina

Visually, Bronze pays tribute to antique diving equipment in contemporary size. Techically, highly advanced caliber MT5601 dominates in therms of reliability and precision

The elegantly colored combination, either the casual fabric strap or the vintage calf strap is beautiful, and will match harmoniously with the gentleman’s details like brown shoes and leather accessories

Through the past, the eye-cathing material is by tradition suitable for timepieces that are engineered to spend much of their life underwater. Beautifully crafted bronze has been used in the manufacture of diving equipment which proves their nautical reputation. Nothing less intriquing, bronze has another advantage for the watch collectors. This fascinating metal’s ability to develop a distinctive, vintage patina over the time of its wearing life gives each watch a unique style, and maybe more important, rather emotional relationship to its owner.

It really captures the history of how it is worn - the patina develops darkness on the surface slowly during time. The result is impressive, because you will get something much more characterful and a bit closer to the magical undersea world. Even if you wear your beloved Tudor Black Bay Bronze as everyday watch on the land, he will show its age gracefully.

A tribute to a piece from the fifthies captures much of original's glory in a modern package and contemporary size

The immediate attraction of the Tudor Black Bay Bronze lies in its unique ability to unite the subltle line between retro and contemporary aesthetic. The case dimensions - a large 43 millimetre in diameter, a few millimeters larger than models in steel place, it firmly in the modern time, while the use of colours tones on both the dial and the rotating divers’ bezel adds to its timeless and retro appeal.
On wrist, Bronze will satisfy those collectors with preferences for large watches, while not disappoint those wanting a sports watch without overpowering it.

The subtle contrast in brown and bronze tones resonates nicely with the color of the brushed case and noble leather strap with bronze buckle

Completely authentic, now with Arabic numerals, Black Bay Bronze gives fresh expression to one of the Tudor's most historically beloved watches

In addition to 70 hours power reserve, the Black Bay Bronze is also waterproof up to two hundred meters

Both Tudor logos are presented on this watch: the modern shield emblem appears on the brown dial below the 12 o’clock mark, while the historical Tudor rose makes its presence as an engraving on the striking winding crown, which locks in this watch’s water-resistance of 200 meters.

The watch’s more prominent aesthetic elements include the trademark Snowlake hour and minute hands, vintage shaped dot indicators and domed crystal over the dial. They make the watch highly legible in light and in the dark, thanks to luminescent applique. As well, this is the first Black Bay to incorporate Arabic numerals in its dial design. A bronze unidirectional rotatable bezel presents a matt brown anodised aluminium insert. Rustic, brown leather with light stitching blends perfectly with marvellous 43 mm case. Providing a stylish alternative to the leather option, the watch is also available with a casual fabric strap, inspiredby the an elastic French military strap made from parachute material, visualy recognisable by its central yellow detail.

Inspired by Tudor’s history, 43 mm timepiece is a reinforcement to the Heritage Black Bay 41 mm family

The movement ticking inside the Black Bay Bronze is the COSC certified MT5601 movement, which offers a 70-hour power reserve

The rectangular shaped hour markers at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock are replaced with bold Arabic numerals

Designed for accuracy, durability and resistance to shock, the new movement developed specifically to equip this model is slightly larger in diameter than its predecessor. Caliber MT5601, has a frequency of 28,800 vph and carries a respectable 70-hour power reserve. It features automatic winding via a bidirectional rotor and boasts a COSC chronometer certification.
