Today it is our pleasure to be presenting you the larger and bolder and indeed all new Yacht-Master 42 — this very latest and highly anticipated addition to the Yacht-Master collection of sailing inspired watches.
We have introduced and discussed the ethos of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master collection in our previous presentations. From the sportive Yacht-Master 37 Oysterflex and its classic Rolesor companion through the remarkably complex Yacht-Master II programmable countdown flyback chronograph, all the way to the lavishly decorated and incredibly rare “SATS” variant.

In essence, Rolex and exploration, as well as yachting, share a long and rich heritage together — a commonwealth of values reflected in Rolex’s sailing-inspired collection, aptly called Yacht-Master.
The Yacht-Master 42 is the latest addition and a rather bold one at that: it brings the hitherto largest available size from 40 to 42 millimeters for the three-hand models — notably, the Yacht-Master II remains most substantial at 44mm.
The 42-millimeter diameter of the Yacht-Master 42 transforms this well-known and much-loved design by rendering it more generously proportioned. The dial is wider, the bezel is of greater circumference and the lugs take longer to arch downward and inward with an increased surface area, revealing the luster of their Rolex-made 18ct white gold material yet more profoundly.
The black bezel is crafted from a single block of Cerachrom ceramic, with raised and polished numerals molded into a matt backdrop. These high-polished bezel elements stand in brilliant harmony with the 18ct white gold dial elements, such as the hand-applied hour markers or the so-called Professional handset. The hands and indices feature highly luminescent Chromalight material for a long-lasting blue glow.
The 18ct white gold case is matched to the patented Oysterflex bracelet, composed of flexible metal blades overmolded with high-performance elastomer.
The folding Oysterlock safety clasp with Rolex Glidelock extension system ensures a perfectly secure and comfortable wearability.
The Manufacture Rolex Caliber 3235 enjoys the protection of the 100-meter water resistant Oyster case of the Yacht-Master 42. A Superlative Chronometer, this Caliber 3235-equipped model has been independently certified as a chronometer and put through Rolex’s remarkably complex and stringent in-house quality control procedures before receiving its final seal of approval.
