It was just a bit over a year ago that Rolex launched a new website under Rolex.org, dedicated to perpetuating the Founding Spirit of Rolex, as inherited from the man behind the Crown. Hans Wilsdorf was a man with an outstanding dedication to philanthropic efforts to support the pioneers in the world of art, science, nature, exploration, architecture, sports and more. Today, we look at the link between Rolex and the world of cinema.
Rolex.org gives us a glimpse into at least some of the ways how Rolex supports and indeed pushes the world’s scientists and artists to do more and to do better. A prime example to those efforts is the Rolex Perpetual Planet initiative that you may learn more about here.
The so-called Arts Project is a microverse in the universe of Rolex philanthropy and it is established on the uniquely strong collaboration between Rolex and the world’s most renowned and widely respected film makers.
Currently, Rolex cooperates with Martin Scorsese, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron, as well as takes involvement in projects such as The illusionists by Alfonso Cuarón.
Each of these masters of cinema have shaped the way we perceivethe world of motion picture and now, through Rolex, they bring their best advice to future filmmakers. It was only through Rolex and Rolex.org that these incredible creators came together to share their passion and guidance with the next generation — irrespective of their age — of film makers, paying tribute to their mentors.

The director, producer and screenwriter shares a fascinating take on the concept of perpetuity — with Perpetual being a concept of special importance for Rolex.
Scorcese highlights the continuous nature of perpetuity and exemplifies it through the circle between getting inspired, creating something that lasts and having that lasting creation inspire others.

James Cameron is acknowledged for using trail-blazing technology in his films, but when it comes to advice for emerging filmmakers he says to “stay in touch with the human heart.”
The director of Titanic and Avatar believes nothing is more important than “speaking with an authentic voice and portraying the human condition at its most elemental level.”
