Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925
Reference 79010SG

With the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925, the Swiss manufacture has launched a special new version of its highly popular Black Bay Fifty-Eight model. As the name implies, its case is crafted from solid 925 silver and is combined with an open case back – both are firsts for a Tudor divers’ watch.

Highly legible under all circumstances, the taupe coloured dial perfectly complements the various hues of the 925 silver exterior

1958 marked the debut of Tudor’s first divers’ watch waterproof to 200 meters with reference 7924, also known as the “Big Crown” among watch lovers. Highly collectible, this piece serves as the inspiration to the Black Bay Fifty-Eight collection of the 21st century, a masterfully designed and engineered range of watches that continue this special legacy.

As such, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 features the famed snowflake hour and minute hands, a distinctly large crown that looks as great as it is easy and convenient to use, and a high-contrast dial that excels in legibility under all circumstances.

The 925 model takes a material seldom used in watchmaking, 925 silver, and crafts the entire case as well as the bezel and crown from it – even the winding crown tube is 925 silver. These are accentuated by an anodised aluminium bezel insert in taupe colour and silver gilded markings and numerals.

The use of 925 silver is a first for a Tudor divers’ watch, and the composition of the chosen alloy is a secret that the brand keeps close to its chest. That is because the special properties of this alloy are such that use does not affect the appearance of the case of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925. It is entirely satin-finished with a matt effect on all its surfaces, including the bevelled edge that runs along the entire length of the case sides. Silver is loved for its unexpected incandescent brilliance that is best admired when the watch is worn on the wrist. Silver’s extraordinary texture lends a precious aura to this model, accentuated by its open case back, which enables an appreciation of its Manufacture MT5400 Calibre.

Even the crown itself is crafted from 925 silver, bringing the material’s beautiful incandescence to every detail of the exterior

The sapphire crystal caseback reveals Manufacture Calibre MT5400, a spectacular movement with openworked, satin-brushed, sand-blasted and polished details and laser etched decorations.

A remarkably robust calibre, MT5400 is also “weekend-proof” in that it offers approximately 70 hours of power reserve, allowing it to last from Friday evening to Monday morning without additional winding or having to reset it.

Certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), its performance goes beyond the standards set by this independent institute as Tudor insists on an average variation in the daily running of a watch to be between -2 and +4 seconds, as opposed to the required -4 and +6 seconds.
